Site Updates

Work in progress…

2025-8-24: Enabled the lightbox popup (for the video player) when clicking on the video thumbnail along with the single page view (when clicking on the title link).

2025-8-19: Need to work on a basic privacy policy regarding the cookies (those are displayed directly the first time when playing a video requiring user acknowledgement versus being silent or burying the accepting/rejecting in another location). Media hosted on MEGA (it uses MEGA’s video player) sets one cookie for country region (for CDN purposes) while the other videos (the majority of the ones that I currently have published) that play through the HTML5 player, sets a cookie for retaining volume and other player settings. DONE

Sometimes, the cookie for MEGA also gets stuck after clicking “I Agree” (I had to manually clear out the cache).

Also looking through two of my old YouTube accounts that used to host informative videos (unlisted) for my old media portal; will try to test ML upscale/enhance them. Many of them are grainy even at 480p though (some of them came like that via MOFA; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

2025-8-7: Unfortunately no real good Flickr importer/migration tool exists to even begin such a local gallery test.

2025-7-21: Parts of Flickr were down (noticed while testing; photostreams on their site worked but albums which are kind of like these virtual buckets were returning an error which also meant they weren’t loading here). They’ve resolved that service issue. Looking through their recent incidences, site wide slow loading/album issues seems to be a common theme. Has me re-thinking this part again (will try testing import functions and local gallery options).

2025-7-20: Decided it was not worthwhile trying to get photo albums from MEGA integrated (no support for it) and did not want to go the iframe route. Also didn’t want to import all of that here (self-service gallery) for the time being. Sticking to Flickr Pro looks to be the easiest (direct API support); got it setup in under half-an-hour. Pro subscription is valid until January 2026; the 2 year plan amounts to only $5.50ish per month (company isn’t owned by a major conglomerate). Need to test things like linking.

2025-7-19: Template testing (it was hard to find one that didn’t look like complete garbage in a non-blog format and also had good backend control/options). There is another one I like more but it had this short flashing issue when it loaded another menu/link (and I couldn’t get the pre-loading to work). That was without much on the site at the time (thus going to populate it more and re-test again).

2025-7-18: New setup in place (calling it a media hub). Decided to also run it on the main domain (deactivated the portal subdomain).
