Money cover Fernandes STJ-75. This song has a ridiculously addictive riff and the lyrics are also relevant to what I've blogged about many times before (wearing my investors cap) with regards to how money (like suddenly falling into too much of it) has this tendency to "break" peoples brains (because most do not have fiscal discipline and/or allow that wealth especially when suddenly thrust upon them, to change how they think and do things). On the opposite end, there are also those who suddenly want to slide into your life (the worst being the gold diggers who love you for all the wrong reasons). The background video was an attempt (from 2015) we did at creating a tacky karaoke style of video on that theme... 😛 Lyrics:
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
BIG MONEY
MOVIE STAR
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
BIG MONEY
Money
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
BIG MONEY
I've got nothing nothing to lose
Money
English:
This town's main street
Just a few hundred meters long
A run-down movie theater and five or six bars
The high school kids leave the next morning
Carrying their bags
My brother vanished
Instead of my dad
He raised me covered in grease
He makes me carry his dreams
To fool his own heart
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
Someday I'll slam BIG MONEY
Right at their feet
She's dreaming
Of being a glamorous MOVIE STAR
Parking the car by the lake
We'll have fun, reclining the seats
On a muggy, long summer night
Back then she kept moaning like this
"I love you... I love you...
More, more..."
But last night, with some rich guy
She left town
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
Someday I'll slam BIG MONEY
Right at his feet
Money
I don't believe in anything
I don't forgive anyone
I don't dream of anything
I want to blow everything up
A pure white Mercedes
A mansion with a pool
The best woman in bed
Dom Pérignon
Everything I want is inside the TV screen
Just like a nightmare
Money, Money makes him crazy
Money, Money changes everything
Someday I'll grab it
BIG MONEY in my hands
I've got nothing nothing to lose
Money
LUNA SEA ROSIER Cover (Fernandes STJ-75). Audio quality isn't that great though. Originally released 1994年7月21日, this is definitely one of my favorite LUNA SEA tunes (especially when played live and more specifically, the 2007 God Bless You -One Night Dejavu- concert performance which I attended).
Found this old clip (2012ish?) while looking through a drive for something else. The G-Life Caribbean Ocean Blue (COB) Standard has been EOL for years. I still have a 2016 DSG Classic-Ash COB (rosewood fretboard with inlays) that is also EOL.
GIGO - attempt to upscale this is an example of the limits of a poor source; result is garbage out

March 16, 2012 was the final day of operations for the 300 series Shinkansen. This rolling stock made its debut in 1992 and operated on both the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. Initially, the 300 series was utilized for the fastest Nozomi service, but were later repurposed to the slower but more highly utilized Hikari and Kodama services when newer train series were unveiled (500, 700 and N700). As a result, the 300 series became a venerable workhorse during its 20 years of operation. Most sets were pulled back in February but a few specially tagged trains ran until March 16th. Those trains sported a special graphic on both its nose and on the side just to the front of the cabin door; Shinkansen Series Last Run 2012.3.16 Several of us went across the country to capture the runs from various points. This is a compilation of those final runs. As someone who personally put a lot of mileage on this series, thank you and goodbye old friend!
For the time being, this is about the best upscaling I could get from the GYAO VOD (320x240 15fps low bitrate) to 480p at 30fps. The player on this site unfortunately scales it larger than 480p (when played in a 480p window, it looks decent).
Fly over via Excel Air of the Tokyo metropolitan area (circa 2003). Mori Tower in Roppongi was the newest skyscraper at the time. Note: Excel Air used to offer cruising tours out of Urayasu Heliport near Tokyo Disney (but had to relocate in April 2025 and are now located in Tsukuba and also have flying tours in Okinawa)
(Nippon Budokan).
Nostalgic trip down memory lane… one of the more interesting side things I got to experience ~25 years ago was being part of the rollout for the then new Yamaha PM1D professional modular digital mixing console for Shiina Hekiru’s 2001 Precious Garden Summer tour. Most shows from these tours in 2001 through 2002 (~Around the sadistic~ tour) were at concert halls and smaller live houses except the 2002 ~NEW STEP~ News Years Day show at the much larger Nippon Budokan (which has challenging hall acoustics) which was not pro shot recorded. For this 2003 New Years Day show (which was pro shot), the presets and production audio mix ended up leaning towards a more bass heavy sound that IMHO, lacked the crystal clear separation of the 2001 mix. Hekiru also was slightly congested/not feeling 100% (which may have affected the soundcheck/preset calibrations).
Regardless, I’ve long wanted to “visually re-master” the original pro-shot footage (480p) to at least 1080p but that tech didn’t really exist until recent years. Hours of experimenting with different settings plus GPU processing has resulted in this video which now more closely matches the audio. Getting this to 4K (with excellent quality) is years away BUT I almost got a usable 1440p60 version (maybe a few software iterations away). Anyway, this is the fully “remastered” version in 1080p60.

Nostalgic trip down memory lane… one of the more interesting side things I got to experience ~25 years ago was being part of the rollout for the then new Yamaha PM1D professional modular digital mixing console for Shiina Hekiru’s 2001 Precious Garden Summer tour. It was introduced in December 2000; a modular system of the control surface and modules like the DSP engine, controller, I/O units, and power supply along with Windows software which allowed additional functionality (by connecting a PC/laptop to the system). Due to my side interest in music, I ended up being part of the prototype field test group (in Silicon Valley).
This was during that time period of the transition from analog to digital (my tech background with digital audio/video, networking, and systems is partially why I ended up being involved as event staff). I was still working in Silicon Valley but spent time in between Santa Clara, California and Tokyo as the enterprise liaison (at Apple) working with the Japanese office. Things sort of fell into place with Yamaha Japan/this side gig; when I moved to Japan a few years later (due to another opportunity), it resulted in one of the best life experiences I’ve had.
I still remember how this setup shaped the dimension of her live sound going forward (why I noted the “sonic superiority” in that draft (words from her long time sound engineer). Being at many of her concerts for the next 5 years, that live sound is still very vivid. This system was finally EOL in 2015 (PM5D replaced it in 2004). Since 2015, Yamaha now has a RIVAGE PM series that builds on this legacy but in a much more portable form factor (the old consoles required a team to move and set it up).
